Ford has hit its highest sales level in 9 years, thanks largely in part to the performance of the 2015 Mustang, sales of which are up 53.1% over last year. It seems buyers just can’t get enough of the new look ‘Stang, and it’s not hard to see why. The new Mustang is one of those rare instances when I thought a car looked good from the very first time I saw a photo of one. Then I saw the car in person, and was blown away by the sharp, sculpted sheetmetal. The retro-modern look of the 5th generation Mustang was OK, and it took the car being beefed up to the GT500 trim level for it to be really interesting. But this new Mustang, it looks good even in the lowest of trim levels. For the Mustang to succeed on a global level, Ford needed to freshen up the design to appeal to a global customer base, and they managed to do it without the loosing identity of America’s original pony car. With the Shelby GT350 and GT350R trim levels just around the corner, I’d say Ford is poised to continue dominating the modern muscle car market, though it’ll be interesting to see what Chevrolet has to say about it with the arrival of the sixth generation Camaro. It’s a really good time to be alive if you’re a car enthusaist, especially if your into American muscle.
